DJ Hotsauce was born near Munich, Germany, where he spent the first 13
years of his live before moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he
spent about 3 1/2 years before moving back to Germany. Malaysia was the
place where Hotsauce got introduced to rap music and where he found his
love and passion for it. After moving back to Germany in 1998 he
started DJ'ing with a neighborhood friend and after a little while they
started doing weekly partys at a local club.
People always ask me about my name Hotsauce. Where does it come from?
Well as I studied Southern American Culture I discovered that Hotsauce
was a main ingredient in Southern Food. So I became that recipe! At the
same time, wich was around 1999/2000, I started getting into doing
Mix-CD's with DJ Jelly & the Southern Style DJ's Crew beeing one of
my biggest influences.
I was one of the very first persons in Germany to ever release a Mix-CD
with all Southern Hip Hop Music. Because of that factor alot of german
mix-cd stores did not want to carry my Mix-Cd's, so I created my own
way of getting my CD's out to the people. I started to sell my CD's to
Internet Stores located in the United States, thats how alot of people
all over the world got to hear about me. Coming from a country like
Germany where the Mix-CD market is still in its early stages, the
Internet was my main tool to promote myself and build relationships
with people in the music industry.
Through that way I also was able to get different Southern Artists to
host my Mix-CD's. I worked with Artists like David Banner, Baby D, UNK,
BHI, Lil Jon and more. From there I hooked up with a local booking
agency and we actually started bringing Southern Artists and DJ's like
DJ Jelly & DJ Montay, Rasheeda, Crime Mob and more to Germany.
Doing this and with my Mix-CD's I was a big factor in introducing
Southern Hip Hop to Germany. Around 2001 I had also got a chance to
actually hook-up with one of my biggest mentors, DJ Jelly, and built a
strong relationship with all the Southern Style DJ's and everybody at
Big Oomp Records, wich I now am a official part of! My Mix-CD's have so
far been recognized and reviewed in various Magazine and Websites
around the world and I was the first DJ not coming from the States to
ever be nominated at the Southern Ent. Awards in 2005 and 2006.
In 2006 I also achieved one of my biggest accomplishments so far in winning the "Best International Mixtape DJ" Award at the Justo Mixtape Awards!
